Founded in 1952 by the late Raif Dinçkök, Akkök Holding is one of Turkey's most well-established companies with 65 years of experience. The holding company operates in the chemical, energy, and real estate industries. It owns 18 commercial and industrial firms—one of which is located abroad—as well as 18 manufacturing facilities. Aksa Akrilik is Turkey's only local acrylic fiber producer with an installed capacity of 315,000 tons/year. The company meets 17 percent of global market needs and provides services to the textile and industrial textile industries of more than 50 countries across five continents. In 2009, Aksa Akrilik improved its technological infrastructure and began producing carbon fiber, an essential raw material in the 21st century.


DowAksa was established in 2012 as a joint venture of the Dow Chemical Company and Aksa Acrylic San A.Ş. with the aim of providing a wide range of products and technical services to the global composites industry, whose raw material is carbon fiber. Thanks to Dow's knowledge and experience in resins, and Aksa's infrastructure which allows for growth, DowAksa today is one of the strongest companies vying for leadership of the carbon fiber production and carbon fiber intermediate materials market. Moreover, DowAksa is the first and only Turkish company in the carbon fiber industry. Dow Aksa provides integrated carbon fiber composite solutions in the industrial sector, particularly in energy, transportation, defense, and infrastructure. The company develops solutions designed to lower total costs, and offers a wide range of products to the rapidly growing carbon fiber composite industry. DowAksa also engages in business development activities on a global scale, expanding its product range with technical service support.


Turkey's leading chemical manufacturer Ak-Kim was established in Yalova in 1977. The company has extended its production activities to various locations in Turkey over the years. Ak-Kim is a global player serving customers on five continents with its broad product portfolio including chlor-alkali and derivatives, methylamines, persulfates, peroxides, bisulfites, textile auxiliaries, paper and water treatment chemicals, and cement and concrete additives. Ak-Kim has facilities equipped with state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly technologies to produce more than 500 chemicals with a total capacity of 600,000 tons. Since 2002, Ak-Kim has been selling its know-how and technologies to foreign companies and providing a variety of services ranging from engineering activities to turn-key contracts. In line with its growth strategy, Ak-Kim established the Akferal company as a 50/50 partnership with Feralco, Europe's second largest supplier of water treatment chemicals and coagulants, in 2013. Having purchased Gizem Frit, one of the world's largest enamel and ceramic frit producers, Ak-Kim expanded into a new market in 2015. The same year, Ak-Kim expanded its water solutions operations with the perforated fiber Ultrafiltration Module, manufactured from high-quality PVDF material produced with its own recipe, making the company the manufacturing leader in this module.


Akiş Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş., the real estate development affiliate of Akkök Holding, develops projects that help raise the quality of life. The company successfully manages the Akbatı Shopping Mall and Akasya projects, while developing high street retail development projects on Bağdat Street as an alternative to shopping mall investments. It aims to keep paying dividends to its shareholders through regular rental income generated by these investments. Akiş REIT has grown into an influential industry player following its merger with Saf REIT, officially registered on January 18, 2017. The company strives to develop projects that make a difference in the real estate industry by creating trend-setting projects at the right time and location and closely following changing industry trends and socioeconomic developments.


Since 1993, Akmerkez has invested in the future and enjoyed a leading position in creating new value and it has become the most popular meeting point in the city and the place to go for distinguished brands and stores, and as an area for shopping, entertainment, and dining and drinking.


Akkök Holding has solidified its place in the real estate industry with the Akmerkez investment. Saf REIT, another affiliate Akkök Holding, has also reinforced its respectful standing in the real estate market with operations that add value to society. Akasya opened in the first quarter of 2014, bringing a breath of fresh air to Istanbul’s Anatolian side, as well as to the region and the city. Meanwhile, KidZania Istanbul at Akasya is a crucial social space based on the concept of educating children while entertaining them. Akiş REIT and Saf REIT have turned into major industry players as a result of their merger under Akiş REIT.


Akenerji was established in 1989 within the auto-producer group in Akkök Holding. Since 2005, it has been operating in the industry as an independent electricity generation company. Akkök Holding and CEZ Group, one of Europe’s leading energy companies, own the company as a 50/50 strategic partnership. The company boasts the capacity to meet 3.2 percent of Turkey’s power need by itself with 1,211-MW installed capacity. Akenerji stands out with its renewable energy investments, and it has advanced the share of renewable sources to 25 percent in its total installed capacity with seven hydroelectric power plants and one wind energy plant, offering 307 MW total installed capacity. A 198-MW Kemah Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Erzincan is in the works.


Sepaş Enerji was established on January 1, 2013, as a separate entity from the distribution company pursuant to a decree on the "Procedures and Principles for the Legal Separation of Distribution and Retail Sales Activities" by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority. Sepaş Enerji serves 1.6 million customers across Turkey while the majority of its customers come from Bolu, Düzce, Sakarya, and Kocaeli. In 2016, Sepaş provided energy to an average portfolio of 1,026 MW, with total sales volume reaching 8.99 GWh.


Sakarya Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (SEDAŞ) provides power distribution services to 1.6 million consumers and 3.4 million people 24 hours a day in four provinces, 45 districts, 47 municipalities, and 1,441 villages in the Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bolu, and Düzce provinces on an area of nearly 19,421 square kilometers. The company strives to provide superior and uninterrupted power distribution, as well as repair services for power outages to subscribers in its region, working out of 33 distribution centers and a total of 21 Customer Service Centers.


For a sustainable future


The concept of "Sustainable Development" has an important role in the formation of Akkök Holding's future perspectives and strategies. In 2012, Akkök Holding prepared its first Sustainability Report with detailed information on environmental, social, ethical, and economic performance and practices. The report was prepared in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative's standards and received approval on Level C. The second sustainability report covering the work of Akkök Holding, Aksa Akrilik, Ak-Kim Kimya, Akenerji, and Akiş REIT in the 2013-2014 period was prepared and published within the scope of the G4 reporting framework. Akkök Holding continues to disclose its sustainability efforts to the public via the Global Compact Progress Report.


Having signed the United Nations Global Compact in 2007, Akkök Holding further strengthened its principles of transparency and accountability which it embraces in all its companies.
